Local World War II and Korean War Veterans Urged to Contact Dunbar’s Penn Township District Office for Special Recognition
PENN TOWNSHIP – Rep. George Dunbar (R-Westmoreland) will host a ceremony and luncheon honoring local United States military veterans who served in either World War II or the Korean War on Saturday, July 28, at the Irwin Moose Lodge No. 236, beginning at 11 a.m.
“Throughout my first term, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of Westmoreland County’s finest past and present military personnel, enhancing my appreciation and regard to those who serve their country and sacrifice their own well-being for a cause greater than themselves,” said Dunbar. “Honoring our veterans through this special ceremony is the least I can do to say ‘Thank You’ for everything they have done for Pennsylvania and the United States. My objective is to see that every single World War II and Korean War veteran living in the 56th Legislative District is recognized.”
To ensure as many veterans as possible receive recognition, Dunbar is asking World War II and Korean War era veterans, their friends or their family members from the 56th Legislative District to R.S.V.P. to his Penn Township
district office at (724) 744-0305
no later than Friday, July 20
. Space at this FREE event is limited, so all participating veterans are asked to bring no more than two guests.
“It’s important that we show our veterans that we remember, respect and honor the sacrifices they made on our behalf,” said Dunbar. “It has often been said that the only thing worse than having no heroes is to have them and forget them. The 56th Legislative District definitely has no shortage of military heroes and I remain committed to giving them all the recognition they so richly deserve.”
The 56th Legislative District covers part of Westmoreland County and includes the City of Jeannette, part of the townships of North Huntington and Penn, and the boroughs of Irwin, North Irwin and Penn.
